Bonjour BP families,

Bravo and félicitations to BP students who were able to donate over 400 lbs. of non-perishable food items to the Calgary Food Bank last week! Thanks to all who supported our Haunted House.

Another thank you to the organizing committee and participating students for our Remembrance Day Ceremony (Mr. Mikalson, Mme. Matheusik, Ms, Stunell, Mr. Powaschuk, Ms. Doyle) for a solemn and moving ceremony yesterday.

Today, our staff are engaging in professional learning  to develop and apply foundational knowledge of Indigenous Education in the CBE. We are committed to acknowledging and responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, which includes educating teachers on how to integrate Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods into classrooms (TRC Call to Action 62).

BP Fun Lunch Change

Please note that the vendors for the dates of January 23 and June 19 have been changed. They are now Subway for January and Papa Johns for June. If you have already completed these orders, note that you have automatically been refunded, and if you would like for your student to have a fun lunch for January 23/June 19, you will need to log in and order once again. Thanks to our Fun Lunch Coordinators for working with the vendors to ensure that portion sizes are appropriate for teenagers!

BPPA Casino Volunteers Requested

The Bishop Pinkham Parents Association (BPPA) will be operating our next BP casino fundraiser on December 20 and 21, 2024 at the Elbow River Casino (218-18 Ave SE). This event happens only once every 2 years and our last one provided over $73,000, which the school used to fund field trips, artist-in-residence programs and the Grade 9 farewell celebration.

We require 36 volunteers to run our casino and based on the last one, each volunteer earned over $2,000 per 8 hour shift or $250 per hour for our school. This fundraiser provides amazing value for both the volunteers' time and funds raised for Bishop Pinkham school.

Absolutely no experience is necessary as all training will be provided at the casino, in addition to a free meal and parking. Volunteers need to be a minimum of 18 years of age and can be BP family members, friends or neighbours. Please consider signing up for a shift.
