Bonjour BP families.

The weather has been warming up as of late, so we will be encouraging our students to be outside at lunch to get some fresh air. Students who are in a supervised club or activity will be able to remain indoors, however this warmer weather will signal a shift in our lunchtime routines.  It is important to note that it would be a good idea for students to have a backup plan for lunch if the businesses from which they wish to purchase items are busy. Our lunch hour is tight. With these privileges come responsibilities and expectations that have been shared with students below.

  • The central purpose and mission of students at Bishop Pinkham School is learning.
  • Lunch hours Monday-Thursdays are 11:26 AM – 11:59 AM
  • BP students will be expected to abide by the CBE student code of conduct at all times, whether they are off campus or not.
  • Students are expected to return to school, have all their supplies, and be in their classroom ready to learn by 12:01 PM, which is when block 5 begins.
  • Our Away for the Day policy is still in effect. Cell phones are to remain in lockers and turned off during the school day.
  • Students are reminded to be respectful of community spaces. Congregating in alleyways, loitering in front of businesses, parking lots, and streets is prohibited. Students are to refrain from gathering in the townhouse complex/church in front of the school.
  • Students are expected to place litter in the appropriate receptacles and to clean up after themselves.
  • Students who are able to respect the code of conduct and be in class on time will continue to enjoy the privilege of off campus lunch hours.
  • Students who are continually late from off campus privileges will have them revoked. Each instance will be treated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Any purchased food/beverages are to be consumed during the lunch hour (ie: no big gulps/slurpees/ice creams, etc. in lockers).
  • Skateboards will remain in lockers during lunchtime, unless the student is using it as transportation to get to and from school.

Safely Crossing Road

We have had some community concerns about students crossing the road in an unsafe manner. Please remind your child(ren) that they should be using marked crosswalks at all times to safely cross the road, look both ways, and put all distractions away (like earbuds and cell phones). Parents, please also be mindful of this when doing drop off and pickups in the mornings.

Emergency Test Alert Across Alberta

On Wednesday, May 8, 11:55 AM, the National Public Alerting System will send a test alert across Alberta to all broadcast platforms. During the test, an alert will go off followed by a text message letting cell phone users know the sound is part of a test and there is no need for concern. The Government of Alberta and Alberta Education believes that these test alerts can serve as an important teaching moment for Alberta's youth. A reminder that as we are an Away for the Day school, any cell phones should be powered down and in lockers.
