Happy Friday, BP families!
We saw wonderful student and staff participation in our Week of Welcome over the past few days. So. Much. Neon. All sorts of tutus, super dance moves, and most importantly, lively community spirit. So much fun was had with the minute to win it games at lunch! Thank you, Panthers!
Personal Mobile Devices
Still extending thanks to all of our students and parents for their ongoing cooperation with the ministerial order of no personal mobile devices in school. Please continue the conversation with your child(ren) that any devices that connect to the internet should be put in backpacks before entering the building, and then powered down and in lockers upon entering the school. As always, if you need to connect with your child during the school day, please call the main office and we are happy to put you in touch.
Terry Fox Run
Our Terry Fox Run took place this Wednesday. Bravo to our students who ran a collective 1509 km. That's from Calgary to Winnipeg! So far, we have raised $890. This year, our goal as a school is to raise $1,600 to support cancer research.
How to Donate
- Donations can be made online or by bringing a toonie for Terry to one of your PE teachers. Please submit your donations, as we will be keeping the website active till the end of the day on Sept 30.
- Donate online!
Let's come together to honor Terry Fox's legacy and make a difference in the fight against cancer! Thank you for your support!
Meet the Teacher Evening
We are excited to once again invite you to attend our Meet the Teachers evening, on Thursday, September 26, where you will have the opportunity to follow your child’s Day A schedule (Monday timetable) and visit their seven classes.
Doors will open at 6:15 PM, and the evening will begin promptly at 6:30 PM. This will allow sufficient time for you to meet all of your child's teachers and, after the 7th period, have a few extra minutes to follow up with any teachers you may have missed. We will start the evening in the gymnasium with a Welcome Message from the Admin team and a brief overview of the evening’s schedule. Additionally, Miss Doyle will provide a tutorial on using PowerSchool and D2L to help support your child's learning at home.
Please note that this is not a parent-teacher interview, rather an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, learn about the curriculum, and get an overview of the key topics that will be covered throughout the year.
To ensure the evening runs smoothly, please talk to your child about their schedule in advance. We suggest you bring a copy of their timetable or take a photo of it to help you navigate. We also encourage your child to attend with you to assist in finding their classrooms.
There will be a two-minute break between classes to allow time for movement. Our Leadership students will also be available throughout the evening to help you find your way.
We look forward to fostering a strong parent-school partnership this year!

Orange Shirt Day – Thursday September 26
We have launched the school year by focusing on classroom learning related to our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation through education. Contemplating truth seeking and resilience is one of the ways our community is committing to the reconciliation process. Bishop Pinkham School’s commitment this school year is to build educator knowledge on how to integrate Indigenous knowledges, languages, and teaching methods into classrooms. Specific learning related to the significance of Orange Shirt Day will occur this week. Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt. Families may wish to visit the Orange Shirt Society website with their children to learn more about what inspired the movement.
