Bonjour BP families.

Today students experienced an incredibly put together Wellness Day, where we were able to partake in a keynote from Canadian Equity Consulting on Systems and Bias and have parent and teacher led sessions for students to focus on physical, social, and emotional wellness. A special thank you to Ms. Doyle who worked tirelessly to plan for this important experience at BP. A special thanks also to our parent presenters (Julie H, Nerida G, Michele S, and Robin P) who lent their time and expertise with our community! Un gros merci! As always, a thank you to BPPA for making much of this possible with your donations.

MyCBE / PowerSchool

Please note that MyCBE has been disabled for parent viewing until the release of report cards, which will enable teachers to begin entering marks and comments. As always, if you have any questions about your child's achievement, please do not hesitate to contact their teacher.

Library Books

Please have a look at home for any library books that have not yet been returned and ensure that they have been returned to the library. The last day to sign books out is June 10, and the deadline to return books June 20. Books lost or not returned will be charged to your PowerSchool account.

Lost and Found Items

We have an abundance of lunch kits, water bottles, and hoodies galore in our lost and found. Please remind your students to have a final look and take any items that belong to them, as we will be donating the abandoned items on June 26.

Teacher Decisions on Class Assignments

As teachers gather to make class lists for our next year students, we wish to remind families that their child’s class placement will be determined through the careful lens of teachers working together in teams to ensure the best possible classroom composite. Teacher decisions are rooted in a strong instructional and social/emotional rationale. Many students have been together since early elementary at our various feeder schools.  As students grow and mature, preparing them for high school includes living with a certain degree of uncertainty.  Only through embracing this uncertainty and new opportunities to develop relationships with others do adolescents grow in their level of preparedness for their future worlds.  We stand by our instructional decisions, which have been made with the best insight and in a collaborative approach between teachers.  Thank you for your support in this matter.

Transportation Registration Begins May 21

All students who are eligible for yellow school bus transportation would have received an email May 21 from the CBE with details on registration and proposed fees for 2025-26.

There are revised walk zones for many schools in CBE. As a result, the CBE is expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones for the upcoming school year. This is in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025.

The legislation modified the transportation eligibility distance and how it is calculated. Transportation eligibility will now be measured by driving distance from your home to the front door of the school:

  • 1.6 km for students in kindergarten - Grade 6
  • 2 km for students in Grades 7-12

To find your school’s map, visit CBE’s Find a School Tool and follow these instructions:

  • Type in your home address or search by school in the drop-down menu.
  • Choose your program under Program Options.
  • Click on the grade(s).
  • Below the map, in the “Programs” column, click on the grade/program for your school.
    • This will display the walk zone for your desired school/program.
    • Note: only one walk zone can be displayed at a time.
  • Transportation registration is available using the MyCBE account. (If families do not already have an account, click here to learn how to create one.)
  • Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
  • Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.
  • Fees are due later in October. There are flexible payment options. Families can apply for waivers if they cannot afford to pay fees.
