Bonjour BP families,
I am sending out this update earlier than usual, because there are some teen and parent online sessions that run this week, that may be of interest, and this information has just come to us to share. The sessions are below.
PAT Days
Please note that for all of the grade 9 PAT days, we have full days of school with planned instruction time. Teachers are still busy covering curriculum and providing review opportunities for the remaining PATs in mid-June. If a parent has an unavoidable cause and wishes to excuse their child from afternoon classes, regular communication processes are in place. Please notify the office of any student absences.
School Fees
Please take a moment to log onto your MyCBE Account to see if there are any outstanding fees. As of today, Bishop Pinkham has $58 500.17 in outstanding school fees and we would appreciate prompt payment.
PE Reminder
As the weather warms up, we kindly remind you to ensure your child brings a refillable water bottle and applies sunscreen before school or before PE class. Staying hydrated and protected from the sun helps students stay safe and enjoy their activities to the fullest!
June is Pride Month and National Indigenous Peoples’ Month
As a public school system, we welcome students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and beliefs. The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) strives to ensure that all schools are safe and caring places for students and staff, including 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff. We welcome this time for increased reflection and action on how to foster inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.
June is also an exciting month for Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing, and knowing. All CBE staff, students, and families are invited to participate in upcoming city-wide events. Check out the Indigenous Awareness Week Calgary website for a list of celebrations and gatherings happening throughout the week of June 14–21, including a powwow on Saturday, June 14 at the Elbow River Camp.

Building Resiliency in Today’s Youth | Community Education Services | June 5 | 12 – 1:30 p.m.
Before High School graduation, one-third of adolescent girls will experience depression, anxiety disorders, self-harm or an eating disorder. However, there is an incredible power in caregivers who can support our youth, both young women and men, before they seek therapy. In a 1.5 hour workshop presentation, steps and strategies from the Juno House Therapeutic Model® will be shared, that will provide effective emotional coaching tools for today’s youth as they develop through adolescence and into young adulthood. This workshop is designed to give caregivers the skills to become their child’s emotional coach.
