Bonjour BP families
We had a visit this week from Education Director Dyck and System Principal Emery, who had the opportunity to drop into classes and speak to students about their learning. Students excitedly shared with them (some even in French), about their classroom activities. They were even treated to impromptu musical pieces from some of our band students. We were able to also share student work on the school body's diverse cultural backgrounds and our work towards Truth and Reconciliation with student voice honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
Dates of Cultural Significance
At BP, we honour the cross section of traditions, languages, and celebrations that are commemorated throughout the calendar year. May is Asian Heritage Month and Canadian Jewish Heritage Month. The Learning Commons regularly displays resources and texts that allow students to see themselves and their culture. Incorporating culturally responsive texts and practices into school life allows us to foster a deeper sense of belonging for everyone.
Track & Field Tryouts Announcement
We are excited to announce that track and field tryouts for the upcoming season will be held from the week of May 5-8 and May 12-15. All students are welcome to attend tryouts for all events during those dates. Please ensure your child comes prepared to the tryouts with their lunch, athletic wear, running shoes, and a water bottle.
Dates will also be added to the Calendar page and the schedule is also on the Athletics page.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to seeing your child at tryouts!
Track & Field Volunteers Needed
We need 4 parent volunteers for our City Track and Field Meet on THURSDAY June 5th at Foothills Athletic Park. We would like to ask those who have police clearance and the ability to volunteer during the hours of 8:30am-2:30pm to submit their name and reply to Mr. Hansinger (sjhansinger@cbe.ab.ca) . The responsibilities include supervision of Bishop Pinkham students and supporting the event officials. Parents will provide their own transportation to and from the event. We appreciate your support and look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
On behalf of the 2025 BP TRACK TEAM.
